Position Description: Music Minister  (Part-Time)

Position Title: Music Minister

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to direct our small choir and provide piano/digital piano accompaniment for Sunday morning worship (one service) and seasonal mid-week/evening services.  Additional responsibilities include providing accompaniment at other church functions as requested by the Pastor.  Funerals and weddings as arranged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the small choir during Sunday morning worship and seasonal mid-week services.

  • Provide piano/digital piano accompaniment for Sunday morning worship and seasonal mid-week services.

  • Attend and lead choir rehearsals (currently held on Sundays after service; may be held in the evening as arranged with the choir).

  • Provide accompaniment at other church functions as requested by the Pastor.

  • Accompany funerals and weddings as arranged.

  • Ensure presence at all Easter services (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and any other special Easter events) and Christmas services (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and any other special Christmas events). Additional services may include Ash Wednesday and Thanksgiving.

  • Collaborate with the Pastor on selection of anthems and hymns.

  • Help arrange substitute accompanist as required.

  • Contact the Pastor if unable to attend rehearsals or services.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise on the piano is required.

  • Experience with the digital piano is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Pastor, choir, and church staff (paid or volunteer).

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Additional Information:

  • Two weeks of annual vacation.

  • A criminal background check, paid for by the church, is required for any employees working with children.

  • There is a ninety-day probation period, after which a review will be conducted by the Staff Parish Relations Committee and the Lay Leader.
